In May 1998, Neal Hecker joined the staff of WPBT in Miami as Program Manager and was promoted within the year to Director of Programming, where he was responsible for the acquisition and scheduling of all the station’s programming. In 2012 Neal was promoted to the newly created position of Chief Content Officer, where he continues to handle all content for WPBT as well as WPBT2’s multicast channels, new media and uVu, the community video site which he developed in 2007. Neal has served on the board of the Public Television Programmers Association(PTPA), American Public Television’s (APT) Premium Service Advisory Board and as the programming representative to PBS’s Development Advisory Committee(DAC). In 2009 became a member of the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival (FLIFF) board. Neal has also written or produced many award-winning programs and series for WPBT.
